1. Offer the prayer of illumination. You can find some good examples at www.middle.st/s/Prayers-for-Illumination.pdf (these are also in a binder on the lectern). Or feel free to write your own.

2. Read the day’s passage. You’ll find the scripture reading in Planning Center and in the reminder email.

Sample script

“Good morning.  Please join me in prayer.”
[Prayer of Illumination]
“Our scripture reading this morning comes from _______.”
[Read scripture passage]
“This is the word of the Lord.”
Congregation: “Thanks be to God.”
